Curriculum

The Master’s Degree in Fashion Design* consists of 60 ECTS credits and lasts for one year.

Study of the evolution and transformation of contemporary clothing, from the profound changes of the 20th century inherited from the industrial revolution to the present day. Evaluation of the most relevant fashion collections by prestigious fashion designers and their relationship with different socio-cultural and economic environments that have emerged during this period. Textile technology.

Analysis of materials applied to fashion design, with a focus on fabrics and their main characteristics (including new sustainable materials), as well as different assembly techniques and possible finishes that add value to fashion creations.

Study of fashion as a social phenomenon, evaluating its function and impact on society through different elements that govern it: the individual, different groups or tribes, and the research and spread of trends.

Analysis of different communication strategies used in the fashion industry, allowing the association of a discourse with a brand and its creative universe to achieve a valued and recognizable brand image.

Study of different sectors and segments of the current fashion market, analyzing different buying behaviors to ensure that the proposed designs meet real needs and existing demands in a highly competitive and globalized market.

Work with technological tools applied to fashion design for graphic representation, illustration, and technical drawing of garments or collection plans.

Learning the different stages and tools that allow the translation of a discourse or concept into the design of a garment, adapting the design in terms of inspiration, shape, color, fabric, texture, etc.

Work with technological tools applied to fashion design for 3D virtual modeling of garments or collections, facilitating their communication and volumetric vision.

Study of different strategies in the fashion industry to streamline, accelerate, adapt, and make the design of a garment or collection profitable through professional planning that organizes conceptualization, production, costs, transportation, sales, etc.

Learning different processes and techniques to direct, create, develop, and communicate a collection coherently from its conception to its implementation in the market, considering various aspects such as collection planning, styling, merchandising, photography, etc.

Application of acquired knowledge to create fashion designs with a more commercial focus and industrial production, intending to meet market needs at any given time, based on real cases.

Develop personal skills by participating in projects within a multidisciplinary team at companies that have collaboration agreements with ESNE, thus enhancing professional communication skills.

Completion of an original and individual project that integrates and reflects the knowledge acquired in the Master’s program.

Fashion and the textile sector represent 2.8% of Spain’s total GDP and 4.3% of employment. This demonstrates the broad presence of fashion in Spain, both in terms of wealth contribution and job opportunities.

Moreover, for over 20 years, leading Spanish textile companies have played a significant role in the global fashion industry and continue to grow. In addition to this, the sector is exploring new opportunities that will generate more jobs, such as the potential of new technologies applied to fashion, including smart fabrics, domestic 3D printing customization, accessory connectivity, etc. Furthermore, the unstoppable growth of e-commerce in fashion and online marketing makes this sector have great growth potential and significant job opportunities.

The Master’s degree lasts for 1 year, from October to July, totaling 60 ECTS credits.

This Master’s degree is primarily aimed at graduates of Higher Education in Artistic Studies, graduates in Design of any specialty, Fine Arts, Engineering, Architecture, or Technical Architecture who want to complement their professional profile with this specialization and have a special affinity for fashion and the challenges posed by clothing in today’s society.
