Curriculum

The curriculum of the Master’s Degree in Interior Design is divided into 60 ECTS credits and lasts one year.

Consult the Teaching Guides of the Master in Interior Design. Our courses are demanding and professionalizing. To access the Master’s Degree in Interior Design and follow the classes you must have a previous level in planimetry, scale and distribution of elements. After the interview with the director of the Master, if you do not have the necessary knowledge in planimetry, you will be recommended a 6 ECTS training complements that you will have to take before the beginning of the classes.

You will analyze the progress of interior design in S. XX-XXI, valuing contemporary furniture design and relevant projects of recent history, as well as the study of trends, color and texture, for the application in Interior Design projects.

You will study innovative materials and their application and the comparison of resistant elements, partitions and coatings in interior projects, prioritizing sustainability in each project, as well as the priority elements of project definition such as carpentry and locksmithing.

You will learn to work on the problems of the existing installations in any interior design project and their application, taking into account technological innovations and their energy efficiency.

You will analyze and evaluate the luminous magnitudes and the characteristics of light and vision in order to apply appropriate lighting systems to each project, studying relevant case studies and developing a specific project.

You will work with the appropriate technological tools and graphic representation methodologies that favor the vision and communication of the project.

You will be involved in the management of the projects with learning personal development techniques, and will define, personal communication skills, as well as the study of real estate digitalization.

You will apply the concepts of ergonomics and its implication in interior spaces, as well as the processes of creation and manufacturing of elements and furniture through the execution of graphic documentation and the creation of a prototype.

You will learn the importance of design from the point of view of nature and sustainability, in search of the user’s well-being, prioritizing basic concepts of user comfort. Biophilic design is defined using the plant element as a figure of design.

You will learn the applicable bases for the creation of residential spaces, taking into account the different housing typologies and carrying out a specific project.

You will analyze the different typologies of public spaces such as commercial areas, restaurants or work spaces, categorizing each space and studying relevant case studies that will favor the realization of a specific project.

You will learn the current trends and typographies of ephemeral and exhibition spaces, as well as the materiality of ephemeral elements, applying specific techniques in each defined project, studying relevant case studies that will favor the realization of a specific project.

You will develop personal skills, emotion management, project planning, budget management, report writing, teamwork and presentation defense and argumentation.

This is the course that requires the student to carry out an original and individual work that integrates and reflects the knowledge acquired during the development of the Master’s program.

Yes, this Master can be subsidized by FUNDAE. Check with our admissions department for all the details. FUNDAE is a public company that manages the funds destined to the training programmed by the companies, which they can make effective by means of bonuses in their contributions to the Social Security. They favor the access, through subsidies, to free and quality training for all workers.

If you do not have the previous knowledge necessary for the development of the Master in Interior Design , you must take the following 6ECTS training complement.

1.Fundamentals of planimetry – 6 ECTS

You will be able to define scales and precise measurement of spaces.as well as to handle the computer program AutoCad.

 

After evaluating the candidate, the director of the Master’s program will recommend the need to take this complementary training course.

The Master in Interior Design at UDIT has a duration of one academic year. From October to July, 60 ECTS.

Interior Design is a growing sector. This type of profile, capable of modifying spaces to connect with consumers and users, is increasingly in demand. You will be able to specialize in different areas such as retail, restoration, housing, furniture. You will also be able to work in rehabilitation, scenography, lighting, window dressing or landscaping.

The salary of an interior designer in Spain varies depending on:

  • Experience

  • Type of projects

On average, an interior designer can expect to earn between 25,000 and 40,000 euros per year. Professionals with more experience and an outstanding portfolio of projects can achieve higher salaries, exceeding 50,000 euros per year. In addition, designers who specialize in specific niches or who work in large cities such as Madrid tend to command higher salaries.

This Master’s Degree is preferably aimed at graduates of Higher Artistic Education, graduates of Bachelor’s Degrees or University Degrees in Design -both of any specialty-, as well as Graduates or Graduates of other degrees with a sensitivity towards design, more specifically, interior design and decoration.

Some specific examples are: graduates in Fine Arts, graphic designer, product designer, fashion designer, etc. It is also open to graduates of more technical education or applied sciences such as engineering, architecture or technical architecture, etc. who want to complement their professional profile with this specialty.

Any person who does not have previous knowledge or comes from studies unrelated to Design, may take a free training complement while studying the Master’s Degree.
