Carla Barrio

PhD candidate in Sociology and Anthropology. Carla Barrio has a degree in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid (2013) with a specialisation in Social Research Methodology (2016). Pre-doctoral fellow (FPU grant) in the Department of Sociology: Methodology and Theory at the Complutense University of Madrid. Deputy director of the journal Teknokultura and member of the Cibersomosaguas Research Group (2016). She has undertaken international stays at the Department of Media Studies, University of Amsterdam (2020), at the Institue of Network Cultures, Hogeschool van Amsterdam University (2020) and at the Department of Humanities, University of Leeds (2021). She currently teaches Video Game Marketing on the Degree in Design and Development of Video Games and Virtual Environments and Sociology and Marketing on the Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design at ESNE, activities that she combines with her activity as a freelance market researcher and digital advisor to companies. Her main research areas are media studies, digital culture, gender and social research methods and techniques. She teaches Video Game Marketing on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design and Development of Video Games and Virtual Environments and Sociology and Marketing on the Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design.
